The history of this little town Saint-Louis-du-Sud is quite remarkable. From 1508 to 1677 it had changed hands three times. In 1508 , the Spanish founded the city of Saint-Louis-du-Sud under the name of " Villa Nueva Yaquine ". By 1655 , the English settled there around the bay and named it Cromwell Bay or Bay of Cromwell. In 1677 , it was the turn of the French when they settled there after driving out the English. Once again, the name was change to reflect the French ownership. Under the French, it was called Saint-Loui in honor of St. Louis not to mention the king of the time, the Sun King or Louis XIV.

Here is a picture of the Commune of Saint-Louis-du-Sud. In Haitian Creole, it is called Sen Lwi disid. This commune is located in the Southern Department, some twenty miles southeast of Cavaillon

The town of Saint-Louis-du-Sud has a population estimated at close to 60,000people and is dominated by the beautiful Bay of St. Louis.

During the inauguration of Village Lumane Casimir in Morne Cabrit, President Michel Martelly reminded the audience that it is very important to build an inclusive and stable fraternal community. He gave the named Village Lumane Casimir to this newly created housing community in memory of the famous Haitian singer Lumane Casimir. The talented Haitian singer Lumane Casimir died in poverty due to tuberculosis

President Martelly made it clear that this village will not really address the housing problems in the whole of Haiti, it is just part of a bigger vision for the developing the housing sector in the entire country.

Here is the School at Village Lumane Casimir in Morne-à-Cabris. The village everything the residents need to manage their own lives.

This social project is a part of Martelly-Lamothe administration interventions targeted towards assisting Haiti's most vulnerable.

The project began under the guidance of UCLBP or Unit for Housing Construction and Public Buildings.

Here ia an example of self suffiency. Water System in Village Lumane Casimir in Morne-à-Cabris. This new village was designated with the intent to be self sufficient and for the homes to be equipped with modern comfort. Each home in the village has its own bathroom and toilet.

On May 16, 2013, President Michael Martelly went with a symbolic deliverance by handing out keys to 8 out of 120 beneficiary families.

This is supposed to solve the housing problem in Haiti. Village Lumane Casimir in Morne-à-Cabris is self sufficient with its own utilities.

many people complained about the size of each home build which is appears to be small. The government argument is that the government is only looking to provide the basic for these people. Ith home is equiped with a kitchen, bathroom. the area has its own water system

It is taking the name of a great Haitian singer Lumane Casimir for her contribution to the rich culture of Haiti, music in particular. The inauguration was the part of 1st phase of rental housing construction in Morne-à-Cabris.
The objective of this project is to build clos to 3,000 rental houses in Morne-à-Cabris for the people affected by the 2010 earthquake
