Haitian-American Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) in Haiti
The Haitian-American violinist and conductor Daniel Bernard Roumain will be in Haiti on this weekend for a concert. He will be spending about a week in the country to work on an upcoming music album with Emeline Michel.
Although Daniel Bernard Roumain is an artist of international renown, he has not been so popular in Haiti or among Haitians. Known mainly under the label of DBR, he is a skilled composer, performer, violinist, and band-leader. DBR is especially known for blending funk, rock, hip-hop and classical music.
Daniel Bernard Roumain was born in the United States of Haitian parents. He attended Dillard Center for the Arts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, received an undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music and a doctorate in musical composition from the University of Michigan.
