Abaka Bay, Ile-a-Vache, classified 57th most beautiful beach in the world

Here is something that will make Haiti proud. At least it is a welcome news for the tourism industry in Haiti that has been working hard to make things happen.

In its edition of May 28, 2013, CNN, conducted a survey to rank the 100 most beautiful beaches in the world. Ile-à-Vache came out in very good position. In fact, according to the survey,
Abaka Bay, Abaka, Indian name of Ile-à-Vache was ranked the 57th most beautiful beach in the world.

February 24, 2012 - Fire at Tabarre market Place

This is a picture taken directly following the Fire at Tabarre market Place Fire. This fire happened on February 24, 2012.

Several small women merchants who were relying on their business to send children to school or to feed their family are no longer able to do that. The Haitian economy is driven mainly by activities like selling at Tabarre market. Often the merchants borrow heavily in order to have these activities.

Fire at former local Maritime and Navigation Service of Haiti (SEMANAH)

Here is the picture of a massive fire that broke at the former local Maritime and Navigation Service of Haiti (SEMANAH) on May 30, 2013.

It was reported that 31 people were seriously injured and had to be taken to three different hospitals for burns and respiratory complications.

The authorities present said based on their preliminary investigation, it revealed that the fir started when combustible combination of Clorox and fertilizer exploded

Arnel Belizaire issued two Day US Visa

Arnel Belizaire issued two Day US Visa

This is what The Haitian Deputy Arnel Belizaire posted on his facebook page. It is a picture of his Haitian Passport. As you look on the page, you will see a visa was issued to him on May 29, with an expiration day of May 31. This only gives the Haitian Deputy about one full day in the US.

Considering that one can not do much on the arrival day as well as the departure day, this leaves Haitian Deputy Arnel Belizaire with only one full day in the US

Access to Condoms in Haiti is limited, specially in the country side as well as in some major cities.

Many health care professionals who have been or currently working in Haiti have seen the effects of contraception shortages in Haiti. The country continues to struggle with high prevalence rates of HIV.

Caribbean group Malavoi with Ralph Thamar

Formed in 1972, the Caribbean group Malavoi came into existance when Mano Césaire, Jean-Paul Soïme, Christian de Negri, Denis Dantin, and Marcel Rémion got together and decide to form a special musical group.

Many of these friends were from Lycée Schoelcher and studied at Colette Franz music school. The style of the group Malavoi is a mixture between French Caribbean music but with a modern influences.

Later, the members of the band Malavoi saw a necessity to include additional musicians as well as instruments. the invited saxophonist Bib Monville and pianist Paulo Rosine. Other talented became part of the group including Raymond Mazarin, Pierre Jabert, Maurice Marie-Louise, Pierre Pastel and Julien Constance.

The first album from Malavoi was released in 1978 with their lead singer Ralph Thamar. After the band split in the late 1970s, they reunited in 1981. The group started to gain popularity across the Caribbean. That popularity quickly spread in the United States, France, Japan, Russia, Brazil, Canada and Ecuador.

2010 Haiti Soccer Team

Here is a picture of the 2010 Haiti National Soccer Team.

Headed by Coach Israel Blake Cantero, a former Cuban International Star, the Haiti national football team represents Haiti in in several sporting events. At Stade Sylvio Cator in Port-au-Prince, the team played with several international teams as well as other local clubs. Since their only appearance at the FIFA World Cup, in 1974, the national soccer team has not been able to represent the country in the World Cup. Their most recent achievement one can think of was in 2007, when Haiti national team won the 2007 Caribbean Nations Cup.

Here is the beautiful singer Njie

She began her singing career in France in Reims orchestras. NJIE was a great performer. She interprets variety of Caribbean, French, jazz standards, gospel and opera. She became most successful in her solo career at which time she made albums. Sofar, NJIE has produced a total of 15 tracks with the participation of a host of musicians, programmers and arrangers such as Ronald RUBINEL, Frédéric CARACAS, Thierry DELANNAY Tony DELOUMEAUX Pascal SAMY, Gregory CUSTOS Didier DAVIDAS and Herve CELCAL.
