The main accusation as to the nationality and citizenship of President Michel Martelly came from the Senator of North who stated officially that he was in opposition to the government. Moise Jean Charles told everyone that he has proof that President Martelly holds both American and Italian citizenship and consequently not qualified to be the President of Haiti.

A commission was established to investigate on the citizenship of the Haitian president. The group will be traveling to the United States to meet with two senators who expects to shine lights on the issue.
