Inauguration of renovated Lycée Toussaint Louverture

With PetroCaribe help, Lycee (High School) Toussaint Louverture, at Quartier Ste-Anne, on the street of Saint-Honoré has been reconstructed and it was inaugurated by the Haitian President on October 16, 2016. The reconstruction of the school building, after the destruction of 2010 earthquake started in 2013. PetroCaribe is an oil alliance of several Caribbean states with Venezuela, founded on June 29, 2005, to purchase oil on conditions of preferential payment. The Board of PetroCaribe Management decides grant facility from its surplus fund to support projects that could directly improve the welfare of the most vulnerable member states. PetroCaribe granted a funding of US$15 million for the reconstruction of two schools: Lycées Toussaint Louverture and Alexandre Pétion and their reconstruction were carried on by the Haitian firm IBT group ($ 7 million was sanctioned for Lycée Toussaint Louverture, alone). These two projects were supervised by the CSA group under the management and control of the Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation.
