Could a marriage between Célimène Dessalines and Alexandre Pétion spare the Emperor?

The answer is NO.

J.J. Dessalines wanted peace with the Mulattoes who wanted to take the place of the white masters.

That was the reason as to why our Emperor offer his beloved daughter to Petion and that was the reason why he was at petion's house on October 17. But, Petion had nothing to do with a negro whom he prefered to be his servant.

What Petion did?

He killed our Emperor, who came over, as a good father, to discuss the engagement with him.
