Kwame Raoul was born in Chicago to Haitian immigrant parents
He is a Democratic member of the Illinois Senate, representing the 13th district. Kwame Raoul was appointed to the position in 2004 to fill the seat vacated by Barack Obama when he became President. He is the chair of the Illinois Senate's Redistricting Committee and the Senate's Pension & Investments Committee.
Raoul has focused his attention in the areas of promoting civil justice, early childhood education, domestic violence prevention and political reform.
Raoul earned a bachelor's degree in political science from DePaul University and a law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Harry LaRosiliere first Haitian-American Mayor of Plano, Texas

Harry LaRosiliere has become the first Haitian-American and the first Black to be elected as mayor of Plano, Texas, one of the largest cities in the state. He wan over the popular Republican Party Chair Fred Mosesare by over 20 percent in May, 2013
Harry LaRosiliere was only three years when he arrived in the US from Haiti with his family. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in geology from City College of New York. He moved to Plano, Texas in 1994, and worked as a financial advisor.
Harry LaRosiliere has his wife Tracy and their two daughters, ages 15 and 13. He has membership at the Plano Metro Rotary Club and the Plano Chamber of Commerce.
