Manifestation preventing Royal Caribbean from going to Labadee
Here is a icture of the protest taking place in Labadee. in January, 2016. preventing Guests aboard Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas from visiting the cruise line's private destination of Labadee
On January 19, 2016, a political protest on the upcoming political election prevented the guest aboard the ship "Freedom of the Seas" from going to Labadee. The ship captain decided not to let passengers off the ship on safety reason, because several groups of protesters staged a demonstration in small boats. As per Royal Caribbean's statement, although the protest was peaceful in nature, it was evident that if the protest had continued, it would have a significant impact on the ability of the tourists to enjoy Labadee. The cruise company cancelling the trip, travelled to Falmouth, Jamaica as per its plan. 'Labadee' is a 260-acre peninsula on the northern coast of Haiti, known as a vacationer's paradise; it has been leased to Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. until 2050. A private beach resort leased to Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd features pristine beaches, coral reefs and lagoon-like bays surrounded by forested mountains.
La Gonave Development Plan
Here is a picture of La Gonave.
The former President Michel Martelly had made a plan with an unknown institution to transform the La Gonâve Island into an International Financial Center with three official languages: English, French and Creole. As per the plan, an area of 100 square kilometers within the 743 square kilometer Island of Gonâve will be transformed into a sustainable green island community consisting the following projects. (a) renewable energy project, Jatropha farm and biodiesel plant that would employ over 18,000 Haitians; (b) luxury estate housing; (c) waterfront villages; (d) international and private airports; (e) industrial city with deep sea port; (f) all inclusive destination resorts with spas, golf courses and casinos; and (g) home port for large cruise ships. The agreement withholding the description of financial institution was made public by an Executive order issued by the Martelly government on January 7, 2016. The private entity will be empowered to build necessary infrastructure as per the requirement of the project and collect revenue to cover their investment. The plan was originally conceptualized in September 2010. It was a surprising fact that a public disclosure of such status was unknown outside of the principles involved.

'Labadee' is a tourist oriented resort on the northern coast of Haiti leased to Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. until 2050. It is located some six miles from Cape Haitian. The place is very nice, as are its beaches. They are pleasant, relaxing with lots of beach chairs. Since 1986, when RC Cruise made its deal with Baby Doc Duvalier in 1986, Royal Caribbean Cruises has been contributing a larger portion of their revenue to Haiti. Royal Caribbean does not pay any rent of any kind for the 260 acres of waterfront property, but its passengers pay a $12 head tax (it was $10 till February 2015). This private beach resort features pristine beaches, coral reefs and lagoon-like bays surrounded by forested mountains. The location is named after its first French settler marquis de La Badie, who came here in the 17th century. A typical day in Labadee may include snorkeling, filling up your plate at the buffet BBQ, zipping across the water on the 2,600 ft long Dragon's Breath Flight Line or snoozing in a beach chair on a private beach of 25 people.

New Marriott in the heart of Port-au-Prince, Haiti
A new Marriott in the heart of Port-au-Prince. Here is an important milestone in Haiti, the opening of the Marriott Port-au-Prince.
With the help of the Clinton Foundation worked closely with Marriott and Digicel Group, this new hotel will likely attract more foreign direct investment to Haiti
Like a shiny, white beacon to match the high expectations being placed on its shoulders, the 11-story Marriott Hotel in Port-au-Prince, newly opened for business as of the 25th of February, stands out for its newness, simplistic outer design and its ability to reflect the sunlight. While Haiti on a whole and its tourism sector in particular have been benefitting from a tremendous influx of support from local investments and help from around the world, leading to the erection of many new hotels, the implementation of a hibiscus rating system, and a general overhaul of many popular tourist sites with the addition of new ones, it is this hotel which garnered much attention, compelling the presence of Haiti's President Michel Martelly, and former U.S. President Bill Clinton to its grand opening.
