Haiti remains one of only 23 world countries that recognize the sovereignty of the Republic of China. The President, Ma Ying-jeou made Haiti one of its stops during a recent tour of those Caribbean nations which give Taipei its support. Also on President Ma's itinerary for a visit is Paraguay, the only South American country that recognizes Taipei, ST. Lucia, ST. Kitts and Nevis and ST. Vincent and the Grenadines.
