Many hands make the load light, it is often said in Haiti, and the cooperation between Partners in Health and Zanmi Lasante make the building of the University Hospital of Mirebalais a testament to that. The 300-bed facility, at 205,000 square feet, was a much-needed institution to the area where residents were in desperate need of medical aid. Today, after opening in 2013, the hospital provides care to 185,000 people in Mirebalais and two neighboring communities.

Ms. Magalie Adolphe Racine, the former Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic, has submitted her nomination to run for the post of Deputy of Mirebalais and Boucan Carre on behalf of Repons Klas Mwayen (The Middle Class Response) party. She is a former deputy of Abel Descolines, a leading member of the Martelly administration, Parliamentarians for Stability and Progress (PSP) bloc of the 49th legislature. She has served as an adviser and the chief of protocol to the First Lady Sophia Martelly. Her mother was a notorious "tonton makout. In 1963, she became chief commandant of Port-au-Prince. Magalie has a background in the fashion and modeling industry. She is a beauty trainer, former supermodel and an active entrepreneur in organizing fashion shows in Haiti.

He declared yesterday that the government must hold election in 2014 and that if he doesn't, he himself will join the opposition against him. You can be a star in a foreign country, but back home, you are just another victim. At least this is how the international Haitian soccer player, Jeff Louis, felt on December 28. According to information received by the Haitian Joudalist Jeff Louis who came to Haiti to spend the Holiday season with friends and families, was a victim of police brutality in Mirebalais.

According to the report, Jeff Louis was beaten by a Haitian Police in the city of Mirebalais. The international Haitian soccer player, Jeff Louis, 18, is currently playing in the French football club, Le Mans
