Fruit and vegetable market, Rue Oge in Petionville

New Oge Street Produce Market Launch. President Martelly joined Petion-Ville Mayor Brutus to launch Oge Street Fruit and Vegetable Market. It is being held in a new building, funded by the Office of Monetization of Programs of Development Assistance.

The space contains 56 stalls, toilets, and showers, supported by a 10,000-gallon capacity water tank.

Martelly wants the market kept in sanitary condition, and merchants to be vigilant to potential thefts. Cost of the project came in at 18 million gourdes.

Hotel Montana in Petion-Ville

Around since 1946, the Hotel Montana, a long-time jewel in the crown that is the suburb of Petion-Ville, suffered major damage during the earthquake in 2010. Two to three hundred people went missing, some of whom were never recovered. After the destruction, the hotel donated the salvageable contents of its freezer to a restaurant for use in their impromptu soup kitchen. Reconstruction of the hotel began in April of 2011.

The members of the band, Les Difficiles de Petion-Ville include, on lead vocals, Henry Celestin (founding member), Robert Martino (guitars, founding member), John William 'William Ti' (gongiste), Reynold Nader (guitar accompanist), Sony A. Louis 'Ti Boeuf' (drummer), Claudy Emmanuel on bass guitar and, on tam tam, Joseph Arius. This is the band's fourth reunion and they hope to parlay the sound of the past despite the many changes and separations it had endured throughout its nearly 50 year history.

Helicopter carrying Garry Conille made emergency landing in Petion-Ville

It was quite a close call for the Martelly's team when this weekend. A helicopter carrying Haitian Prime Minister Garry Conille, Interior Minister Thierry Mayard Paul, and Foreign Minister Laurent Lamothe made an emergency landing in the hills above Port-au-Prince Haiti.

According to Haiti Radio Kiskeya, the helicopter landed in Petion-Ville due to the heavy Kenskoff fog. Prime Minister Garry Conille and his team was on his way home after a meeting with President Michel Martelly.

Interestingly enough, this happened soon after a tragic Helicopter crash happened in Mexico that took the live of Mexican Interior Minister, his Deputy Interior Minister, and six other passengers. The Haitian President has just send his condolences to the government of Mexico
