Georges Anglade was born on July 18, 1944 and died on January 12, 2010. Born in Haiti and acquired Canadian nationality later. He was put in jail by the Duvalier regime and a strong opponent of the dictatorship of the Duvaliers in Haiti. he studied in Port-au-Prince, at École normale supérieure and the law faculty. While living in Canada, Georges Anglade worked for the Department of Geography at the Université du Québec à Montréal.

Frankétienne was born under the name of Franck Étienne on April 12, 1936. He is from a small town called Ravine-Sèche in Haiti. Franketienne is a well accomplished artist; he is an author, poet, playwright, musician and painter.
As a Creole language writer, he has written in both French and Haitian creole.
Franketienne was a candidate for the Nobel Prize for Literature in the year 2009.
