On June 15th 2014 Haitians will be viewing the soccer World Cup in Munich. It has been 36 years since Haiti competed in the World Cup, and a moment in time never to be forgotten happened then. Haiti scored a goal against top-ranked Italy.

Emmanuel Sanon made an astounding score against goalkeeper Dino Zoff, a legend among soccer players. For a brief period the score was Haiti 1, Italy 0. Today one of Haiti's finest moments in sports can be seen on YouTube.

Here is a picture of the Haitian-American Jozy Altidore at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He was forced out a Match between United States and Ghana very early due tho an injury where he pulled his hamstring.

The expectations for him were high in this World Cup in Brazil. With this great player in the team, many people were expecting that the United States will make a better presentation this year.

Haiti to Play Kosovo Football Team after Jamaica Said No

Kosovo's National Football Team, whom many countries refuse to play because they don't recognize the nation's statehood, will play Haiti at an exhibition game after Jamaica pulled out due to political tensions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Kosovo declared its sovereignty in 2008, but Serbia refuses to accept it, considering it governed by the UN military. Yugoslavia created a unified Province of Kosovo and Serbia after World War II, but Kosovo rebelled and finally won a provisional independence in 2008.

Haitian-Canadian Jean Pascal won at the end of the 12th round

The Bell Centre in Montreal housed the underwhelming matchup of Jean Pascal and Lucien Bute recently, in which the Haitian-born Pascal shored-up his victory with little resistance from Bute. Following his victory, Pascal is now the World Champion Heavyweight Adonis Stevenson's mandatory challenger. The two Haitians are at the top of their game currently and their matchup will drum up at least as much attention as did Pascal vs. Bute.

New St. Therese Sports Center in Petion-Ville

President Martelly and Minister Racine of Youth, Sports, and Civic Action attended the launching of the newly remodeled sports arena at St. Therese Park. An up-to-date facility, it contains 2,700 seats and player, referee, and meeting rooms.

Minister Racine underscored the importance of achieving well-rounded students, both academically and athletically.

Martelly re-committed his government to continue progressing on reconstruction projects, entreating attendees they must exercise patience while waiting for projects to begin in their neighborhoods.

Mountain bike stage racing

Mountain Bike Ayiti will take place for a second year in January of 2014. Following the success of its first staging earlier this year, promoters hope to capitalize on the momentum and host a fun, scenic tour of Haiti's mountains and some of the coast on two wheels. Filming of the event will be undertaken by an experienced team of professionals in the industry and highlights of the race, including results, will be aired on local networks with coverage by adventure and cycling media from around the world.
