What's wrong with students helping to build their own school?

It seems to me that they would appreciate their education even more knowing that they worked hard to construct the building.

Also, they are more likely not to damage the building with spray paint or vandalize it because they worked hard to build it. What happened in the past needs to stay in the past. Haiti needs new and fresh ideas.

Yes, Haiti can learn from the bad things that happened before but just because children are helping to build their own school doesn't mean slave labor.

I would rather see them help build their school than to have no school at all. And they will be leaving a legacy and a school building for the children coming after them. One thing that Haiti has is a lot of people and those people need jobs and the more people that you have to do the job, the easier and quicker it will be done. If the government can't afford to build enough schools then the people and the children who will attend those schools need to build them.
