Jean Claude Duvalier faces trial for Corruption
A judge in Haiti didn't think it was necessary for Jean Claude Duvalier to face trial for human rights abused; instead, he ruled that the former Haitian dictator, Jean Claude Duvalier to go on trial for corruption. The former Haitian president was accused for torture and other rights abuses for which several people alleged to have been the victims.

In an interview given to the Associated Press at the World Economic Forum in January 2012, the Haitian President Michel Martelly showed his intention to pardon former Haitian dictator Jean Claude Duvalier who has been accused on corruption and human rights violations.
President Martelly made it clear that his country has more pressing issues to deal with following decade of political instability and a devastating earthquake in 2010. The president also declared to Associated Press that he will respect the independence of the judicial system ruling on whether Duvalier should face trial on corruption and human rights violations.
