Duvalier's Vengeance against Jérémie

Jérémie, located in the southwestern part of Tiburon Peninsula, is a port city of Grand-Anse Department. It is renowned for noted authors Emile Roumier and Etzer Vilaire.

Its mulatto elite live in the Haut-Ville district in picturesque pastel-pink and -green bungalows. Its business district is Basse-Ville.

François Duvalier dealt Jérémie two lethal blows during the mid-sixties. First, he sent his Tonton Macoutes to slaughter 27 victims, and second, he shuttered its port. Both were revenge for townspeople questioning his repressive policies.
