Haiti and its cities

The visit of the Catholic leader has severl meanings. Pope John Paul II who visited Haiti in 1983, mentioned the Polish contribution to the Slave rebellion leading to Haiti's independence. Several Haitians with polish ancestry were selected by the Duvalier regime to attend the various ceremonies organized for the Pope visit.

You can see the Polish influence in several towns in Haiti, such as Casale, La Vallee de Jacmel, Fond des Blancs, La Baleine, Port Salut and St. Jean du Sud

This is a picture of a road being built in the town of Trou du Nord for the purpose of exploring the gold mine that was recently discovered.

At this time all the preparations are being made in term of road building, facilities and logistics to make the exploration easy. It is estimated that actual mining could be under way in five years.

A city in the north of Haiti, Trou du Nord is also known as Twou din.

Trou-du-Nord is in the arrondissement of Troud-du-Nord and also the capital of the arrondissement. Elevated at 36 meters above the sea level, the town where goal, silver and copper was discovered lies within the coordinates 18 38' 0 North and 72 01' 0 West. It is inhabited by 50,200 residents.

The municipality Trou du Nord covers a total area of 130.8 km2. 1km2 and has approximately 383 residents.

You are looking at a Haitian child from the town of Casale in Grande Anse. The town has a large Polish influence which is dated back during the Haitian revolution from France. History reported that back in 1802, about 5200 Poles were sent to Saint Domingue by Napoleon to deal with the slave revolt.

Upon arrival, the Polish brigade joined the slaves to fight against the French army.

Trou du Nord

It is interesting to see how a town can go from being unknown to international interest. This was the case for the town of Trou du Nord in Haiti, ever since it was discovered that it has gold.

in 2012, a mining company revealed that they have found more than 1 million ounces of gold at two sites in the region of Trou du Nord

What makes it interesting is that not only they found gold in Haiti, they also found silver and copper.

The town of Trou du nord that is equiped with a few primary schools and secondary schools became the most interesting town in Haiti.

The town with the brightest future so far in haiti, Trou du Nord is located on the Northeast coast of Haiti. Goal, silver and copper was recently discovered there.

The town of Trou-du-Nord is made up of Garcin, Roucou and Roche- Plate. This town in Nort of Haiti is also referred to as Trou and Le Trou, though its former name was Jacquzyl hole.

This town was quite poor before it was discovered that it might hold the key to success for Haiti and the town that will probably take Haiti out of poverty

The city of Croix-des-Bouquets became the victim of a fire. This took place in the night of November 15, 2011 where the fire destroyed the businesses of many small tenant of the Market. The city of Croix-des-Bouquets is located close to the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince
