Cardinals Nicolás de Jesús López Rodríguez and Chibly Langlois
The ascension of Bishop Chibly Langlois from Haiti to the Cardinal of the Catholic Church is considered by many as a disapproval of the service of Dominican Cardinal Nicolás de Jesús López Rodríguez by Vatican. As a successor to Cardinal Antonio Beras Octavio Rojas, López Rodríguez was appointed as the Cardinal for the entire Quisqueya on July 28, 1991. Cardinal Nicolás Rodríguez has become infamous for his racist remark in favor of resolution 168/13 that stripped away the most basic constitutional rights of nearly 210,000 innocent undocumented Dominicans of which majority are Haitian. Many countries, such as United States, Venezuela, Cuba and CARICOM member states has openly expressed their displeasure against his advocacy for resolution 168/13.
Who is Bishop Chibly Langlois, Haiti New Cardinal?
The new Cardinal from Haiti, Bishop Chibly Langlois of Les Cayes is a 55 year old tireless man who was born in a poor family from La Valle in southeast Haiti. He never forgot his impoverished childhood and always has maintained a close contact with the most vulnerable, distressed ordinary people even in most difficult circumstances. His ascension as the Cardinal is regarded by many as the recognition of his great service to the destitute victims of earthquake and a mark of trust to someone who can lead the work of Vatican in a new direction. Bishop Chibly Langlois is the president of the Haitian bishops' conference, youngest among the 19 new cardinals who will be formally elevated in consistory on February 22nd and the only non-archbishop in the group.

New Episcopal Church Cathedral
Here is a picture of the new Episcopal Cathedral to be built soon in Port-au-Prince.
The plans for a new episcopal cathedral was just delivered and it is going to be located on the site of the old one. As you may remember, previous cathedral came down as a result of the 2010 earthquake. The plan for the new structure was unveiled at the Chicago meeting of the Episcopal Church Executive Council.
The Obeah Religion
Obeah is associated with both benign and malignant magic, charms, luck, and with mysticism in general.
Obeah or Jamaican folk magic, sorcery, and religious practices derived from West African, and specifically Igbo origin. Obeah is similar to other African derived religions including Palo, Voodoo, Santería, rootwork, and most of all hoodoo. Obeah is practiced in Suriname, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Dominica, Guyana, Barbados, Grenada, Belize, The Bahamas and other Caribbean countries.

Pierre Andre Preaches Miracles
Pierre André, pastor of SHALOM, began preaching at Delmas Church of God as an unordained minister. His gift for preaching led the School of Theology to admit him to its course in miracles program.
When André abandoned Delmas for a clerical position in Port-au-Prince, the church refused him ordination. In response, he offered his own edition of a course in miracles at 1000 gourdes. Since then he has built a media empire, becoming one of the most successful businessmen in the Caribbean.
Cathedral of Notre-Dame du Cap-Haitian vandalized
Cap-Haitian Police and responsible of of the Archdiocese of Cap-Haitian are investigating an incident of vandalism that took place at the Cathedral of Notre-Dame of Cap-Haitian on Saturday August 6. There were several damages done inside of the historic Cathedral in Cap-Haitian, including furniture that were overturned, broken or destroyed. The Vatican flag was torn, Blessed Sacrament and statues of saints were stolen.
The people responsible for the act wanted to give a message to the Catholic church. There were leaflets left inside of Cathedral of Notre-Dame which state that the Catholic Church is the devil's house.
The Archbishop of Cap-Haitien, Mgr Louis Kebreau condemned the act of vendalism on the Cathedral of Notre-Dame du Cap-Haitian, and in part accused other religions for fostering fanaticism" in Haiti.
This incident interrupted normal church activities as the Sunday morning Mass was not celebrated at the Cathedral of Notre-Dame du Cap-Haitian.
Haitian Bishop Francois-Wolff Ligonde

He was the one who presided over the lavish wedding of former dictator Jean-Claude "Baby Doc" Duvalier and and Michele Bennett. He was viewed by many political analysts as an ardent supporter of the Duvalier regime who was accused for many Human Right abuse.
It was reported that Francois-Wolff Ligonde was also the uncle of Michele Bennett.
François-Wolff Ligondé was born on January 17, 1928 in the city of Les cayes.
