Rene Preval

Born in Marmelade, Haiti Rene Garcia Preval is the son of a Haitian agronomist who has risen to the position of Minister of Agriculture under Paul E. Magloire.

Rene Preval was the Prime Minister of Haiti under the government of Jean-Bertrand Aristide. He married three time. On December 6, 2009 Preval married Elizabeth Delatour

The French president Nicolas Sarkozy made a historic visit in Haiti following the 2010 earthquake. He was the first French president to visit Haiti since the country 's independence in 1804. During the visit, he also announced additional aid of more than 100,000 to Haiti.

France has a long history with Haiti. The Haitian revolution was a period of conflict where the slaves of Saint-Domingue revolted against the French colonization. In 1808, the country revolted, setting the first republic. In 1814, Spain regained control and in 1821, Spain government was overthrown. In 844 Dominican Republic was conquered by the Haitians.

Critics of former President Bill Clinton blame him for the rapid decline in Haiti economic condition.

It is reported that after the 1991 coup that removed Former Haitian president Jean-Bertrand Aristide into power, Bill Clinton continued with the same policy of his George Bush which is a policy of jailing Haitian refugees in Guantanamo.

He is also accused for pressuring Aristide to adopt free market economic policy as a condition of restoring him into power in 1994. This policy actually drove the country into becoming the poorest in the western hemisphere.
