Jamency "Black Alex" Pierre (born on October 16, 1976), the famous Rap and Ragga artist from 'King Posse' band passed away on November 13, 2015 at the age of 39 after prolonged illness. His real name was Jamecy Alex Pierre. He, along with his other band members dominated the rap Kreyol world in the 1990's with hits like Lokal, Diana, Cool non, and many others. His funeral was held in the Saint Peter's Church in Petionville (outskirts of the capital), on the morning of Friday, November 27, 2015, under the care of the Haitian government. President Martelly, who was present on the occasion, was seen to carry Black Alex's coffin during the ceremony; the President has expressed his sympathy via twitter.

Jamecy "Black Alex" Pierre (39), the well known Rap and Ragga artist from King Posse, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2015 after a prolonged illness. Two weeks ago, Black Alex was admitted to the Haitian community Hospital in the capital city. Many consider "King Posse" group as the all time best in Carnival, Rap and Ragga. The group has several hit albums to its credit. Alex was born on October 16, 1976 and started his career in the mid 1990s. In the past few years, he started singing as a solo artist and had featured on songs of various artists.
Black Alex is survived by his minor daughter Alexandra Pierre. One posthumous album of Alex will be released shortly and all of its proceeds will be accumulated for his daughter Alexandra's benefit which she can have from her 18th birthday. A preparation has been made to hold his funeral service on November 29th. Our condolences go out to Ms. Pierre and everyone affected by this lost.

King Posse brought him fame during the 1990s and fans watched the arc of his career.
Black Alex died from complications of HIV/AIDS. Before he passed away, he converted to Protestantism, which was televised on TV.

The audience was in doubt until the group published its recent meringue "on tiptoe" where they clearly heard his voice and a photograph of the artiste with a fan was made public. On February 3rd, there was an unexpected program that viewers witness on TV Shalom: Black Alex joined the flock of God. According to the rapper's family sources, for several years, Alex is struggling with AIDS. After rumors of his death "Black Alex" made a public appearance on Shalom TV and declared his decision to rearrange his rest of life to the service of the Lord.
