A medical doctor and long-time advocate for democracy in Haiti, Dr. Maryse Narcisse was a member of the Cabinet of President Jean Bertrand Aristide. She was responsible for social issues and public health issues. At one point, Dr. Narciste was actively involved in national immunization campaign in Haiti. Dr. Maryse Narcisse at one point was the victim of a kidnapping. She has been member of the National Commission of the Fanmi Lavalas Party

The JPP group was very popular and active at one point in time. The people in charge provided financial support to encourage the youth to pursue their studies in school or learn a trade.
