With the gothic loom of its main building, the Hotel Oloffson speaks of time-honored service with a certain je ne sais quoi. Originally built in the late 1800's as a home, the building was used as a military hospital before being turned into a hotel in 1935. Since then it has given inspiration to a New Yorker cartoonist, was featured in the autobiography of Max Hardberger and also was the inspiration behind a fictional hotel in a 1966 novel by Graham Greene.
