New Ambassadors in Haiti, Sharon Isabel Cambell and Marcelo Apicella

President Michel Martelly received the credentials of two new Ambassadors accredited to Haiti, Ambassador Sharon Isabel Cambell of United Kingdom and Ambassador Marcelo Apicella of Italy.

On Monday, December 14, 2015, at the National Palace, President Michel Martelly received the credentials of two new Ambassadors accredited to Haiti. The new ambassadors are: Ambassador Sharon Isabel Campbell (United Kingdom) and Ambassador Marcelo Apicella (Italy). Ambassador Sharon Campbell joined the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO, UK) in 1983. With vast experience in international affairs, including security and consular matters, she has previously served in Poland, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Venezuela, and Belgium. Earlier to this appointment, she was the British Ambassador to the Republic of Costa Rica (2011-15). Her husband Christopher Campbell is also a diplomat (FCO, UK). Marcelo Apicella (born June 10, 1964) joined the diplomatic career on July 3, 1995. He was appointed as the Secretary of Legation in June 1997. In 1999, he was appointed as the Consul at Split, Croatia (1999 -2005). Later became Secretary of Legation at the Consulate General of Italy, in Paris with the capacity of Consul. In 2007 he returned to the Foreign Ministry as the Directorate-General for Human Resources and Organization. In 2010 he was appointed First Counsellor for Emigration and Social Affairs in Buenos Aires. From January 1, 2013, he took charges as the Minister Counsellor at the Italian Embassy in Buenos Aires. He was appointed as the Italian Ambassador in Panama on June 2015. The two new Ambassadors have reiterated their commitments to strengthen ties between the countries and improve the living conditions of the Haitian population.

Designer, Giorgio Armani, has chosen Haitian-Italian designer, Stella Jean, to show her Fall 2014 collection at Armani's salon, Armani Teatro. Jean has been selected for her beautifully constructed ethnic-influenced prints. An award given by fashion magazine, Vogue Italia, to her for originality brought her to Armani's attention.

She will show during Fall Milan Fashion Week. She expresses gratitude to Armani he has selected her as the first women's wear designer to show at Armani Teatro.

Cesare Prandelli Traumatized by 2-2 Tie against Haiti - Italy

Cesare Prandelli, Azzurris' coach, can't believe Les Grenadiers evened the final score 2-2 at Rio de Janeiro stadium. With two goals by Claudio Marchisio and Emanuele Giaccherini before half time, at 2-0, Prandelli felt certain of a win.

In the last two quarters, Olrish Saurel and Jean Philippe Peguero scored, making it a tie game, 2-2. Prandelli feels humiliated that 63rd ranked underdog Haiti managed to catch up with the Azzurris in the last ten seconds of the game.

Coach Prandelli Dumbfounded by Tie Score against Haiti - Italy

Azzurris coach, Cesare Prandelli, feels disgraced Haiti tied the final score 2-2 at Rio de Janeiro stadium. Italy had made two goals against scoreless Haiti by half time by team members Marchisio and Giaccherini for a 2-0 lead.

But Haiti surprised with two goals by Olrish Saurel and Jean Philippe Peguero in quarter four, to tie at 2-2 with seconds left. Prandelli says too many changes in team lineup caused underdog Haiti to tie against them.

Haiti's Tie Game against Italy World Champs

At Rio de Janeiro, Haiti shocked Italy with a 2-2 tie game. Haiti has not played at the World Cup since 1974.

Italy scored first within 19 seconds of opening play. Goal two, executed 18 minutes before the end of the second quarter, gave Italy a 2-0 lead.

In the final 10 minutes of play Jean-Eudes Maurice gained a penalty. Olrish Saurel then scored for 2-1. With seconds left, Jean-Philippe Peguero slammed home a goal, tying Italy 2-2.

Haiti Surprises Italy with a Tie Game

Haiti played Italy in Rio de Janeiro and stunned with a 2-2 tie. Haiti has not vied for the World Cup since 1974.

Italy scored quickly, 19 seconds after games start. The next goal came 18 minutes near the end of quarter two. Azzurris led 2-0.

Jean-Eudes Maurice captured a penalty ten minutes towards completion of the game. The score was raised 2-1 by Olrish Saurel. Seconds before game over, Jean-Philippe Peguero kicked home a goal, final score 2-2.
