Senators Jean Renel Sénatus is one of the three members of Bureau d'Age responsible to validate the appointment of new Senators. He was a member of the minority group in the Senate (G9) who submitted his withdrawal from G9 in the second week of April, through a letter addressing the President Privert. In simple words, the reason for his withdrawal as was stated are, his integrity and ideology does not match the activities of the group of Youri Latortue.
Jean Renel Sénatus is also known by his crime-fighting nickname "Zokiki" for his struggle against juvenile delinquency. Youri Latortue is an ally of Haitian President Michel Martelly. This outspoken Senator is one of the Haiti's most powerful politicians. However, he was against the extension of Martelly's mandate till May 14, 2016. He is a leading advocate for reestablishing the demobilized Haitian Army and an alleged drug-trafficker, gangster, godfather, and a death-squad leader.

Here is the picture of two of the senators Youri Latortue and Jean Renel Senatus.

As the fourteen Senators were swearing in on January 11, 2016, two Validation Commissions were formed consisting three Senators each, who were responsible to verify the records of the newly elected officials. The Validation Commissions so employed, has asked to defer the validation of two newly elected Senators, Youri Latortue (President, Ayiti An Aksyon) and Jean Renel Sénatus (League Dessalinienne) until the CEP gives clear explanation on their method of clearances. The commission dismissed their validation under the pretext that they were improperly elected. If Youri Latortue was not barred from the Senate in this manner, could be one of the strongest and influential men inside the Senate. We would wait to see how these two candidates were elected to become Senators in the first round legislative election on August 9, 2015, with the authorization from both the CEP and BCEN.

Here is a picture of Mr. Jean Renel Senatus, AKA Zokiki, Candidate for Family Values

Jean Senatus, running for the senate, proposes he will introduce bills in Parliament to start youth programs; reclaim support checks for widows of dead police officers; support the education of children of slain police officers; and support their spouses until they remarry.

He wants an end to tax increases, and proposes to increase fines for citizens' police abuse. His position on abortion is pro-life (exceptions being rape victims, a malformed fetus, or risk to the mother's life).

Mr. Jean Renel Senatus know that this new position is not going to be easy. He intends to improve on extra pretrial detentions where many culprits spend more time in jail than they should. He wants to fight for justice in Haiti

A far-right religious group, upset over a gay-rights proposal to permit gays to wed, blanketed Port-au-Prince in a mass demonstration against same-sex marriage. Haitian Coalition of Religious and Moral Organizations were vehement, vowing to set Parliament on fire while in session, if they considered the proposal.

One coalition member said, "Haiti is not going to accept this." Haiti does not have any laws on the books opposing same-sex couples to marry, another reason for the group's outrage.

is here to stay. The new Commissioner has demonstrated a certain confidence that he will hold on to the job. He has a reputation for being a defender of human rights. With the acceptance of this new position, Jean Renel Senatus will focus on on pretrial detention, juvenile delinquency and violence against women.
