The citizens of Cite Soleil are incensed West representative Gonzague Day refused to fund the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, their town's patron saint. Residents rioted, burning tires, throwing rocks, and breaking windshields.

Day defended the theft charges he had stolen 17 million gourdes, out of 23 million needed to hold the feast day. With only 6 million gourdes left in the budget, Day could claim there weren't enough funds for Cite Soleil's celebration.
