Here is a picture of The body of the leader of the Haitian revolution, Charlemagne Péralte. His death at the age of 33, made Charlemagne Péralte a martyr for the Haitian nation.
His death was caused by a betrayal from one of his officers.

Benedict Batraville Opposes U.S. Marine Invasion

Benoit Batraville was a Haitian army commander who was thought a puppet military leader the U.S. Marines could control. Because of his intellect and former ties to murdered insurgent leader Charlemagne Peralte, Congress appointed him commander thinking he would help them extend their territory during the U.S. Occupation.

But Batraville was secretly an insurgent leader and foiled the Marines attempt to occupy more of Haiti. They finally located Batraville on the Central Plateau and assassinated him in 1920.

Haitian politician and revolutionary leader Pierre Francois Joseph Benoit also known as Rosalvo Bobo was born in 1874 and passed away in 1929. He came from the city of Cap-Haitien

Dr. Rosalvo Bobo was one of the leading personalities in Haiti before the American occupation of Haiti in 1915. His tactics were to attack prisons to release prisoners. At one time, he was obligated to take refuge at the German consulate in Haiti.

When Davilmar Joseph Theodore was elected president, he appointed Rosalvo Bobo, Minister of the Interior. However, Davildar Theodore was forced to resign in 1915, under pressure from United States.

Dumarsais Estime and United States

The administration of Dumarsais Estime included a coalition of dissidents who led opposition to previous regimes. He did not receive lot of support from the American government who viewed his government unfavorably. His government was labeled left-wing. Dumarsais tried to solidify ties to the United States by exaggerating the communist threat to his government.
