Pamela White, US unfavorable to Haiti transitional government

U.S. Ambassador to Haiti, Pamela White, states the U.S. is against an interim government. Opposition parties want to get rid of the corrupt PEC, who manipulates the electoral process to its advantage.
The U.S. argues elections must be held because it is the only way to guarantee political stability. It also says private investors are leery of provisional governments.
The U.S. has poured $25 million into elections and will donate another $5 million.
Peter F. Mulrean to be nominated Ambassador to Haiti
It seems like there are some major changes underway in Washington in regard to Haiti. President Barack Obama announces some changes in its diplomatic personal. Among these changes, he is considering on nominating Mr. Peter F. Mulrean as the new Ambassador to Haiti.
Peter Mulrean who was born in Boston is currently the Deputy Permanent Representative at the U.S. Mission to the UN in Geneva. He became part of the team of the U.S. Foreign Service in 1988. He served at the American Consulate General in Zagreb. He also served two years at the American Embassy in New Delhi, India.
If the nomination goes through, Mr. Peter F. Mulrean will replace Ambassador Pamela A. White who has been there since July 18, 2012

U.S. Ambassador to Haiti, Pamela White, has been a 35-year career diplomat. After earning degrees in journalism and international development she joined the Peace Corps from 1971-1973.
She worked for U.S. Agency for International Development in Africa from 1978-2001. In 2010 President Obama appointed her U.S. Ambassador to Gambia (she received the Medal of Honor, rarely awarded to foreigners), and in 2012 as Ambassador to Haiti.

The new dam being built at Rivière Grise is expected to improve the wealth of some 15,000 farmers. The site was visited recently by President Michel Martelly, who announced that the plan was exactly what was needed in the current Haitian climate. On the visit, the president had with him a delegation including Prime Minister Evans Paul. They took the time to tour the site, which began construction in May 2014 from grant funding from the government of the United States valued at $9 million.

The sights to be seen at the Carnival of Flowers included the street theater pieces, which consisted of the parading of the body of Jean-Jacques Dessalines, convincingly played by an actor, through the streets of Port-au-Prince. There was also the sight of the many, varying colorful costumes, worn by dancers who shimmied along to the vibrant rhythm of the musicians playing lively Haitian beats. Also a spectacle of its own kind, were the protestors who set out to criticize the President's decision to hold the carnival this year.

Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe participated in the US Independence day celebration at the residence of Pamela White - the US Ambassador to Haitian capital Port-au-Prince. In a speech during the celebration, Laurent Lamothe stated that it was his pleasure to participate in the event and that his presence during the event was the testimony of the fact that Haiti has an excellent relationship with United States. Stephanie Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism was also present.

Prime Minister Paul Meets with U.S. State Department regarding Upcoming Elections
Prime Minister Paul took a meeting with U.S. State Department Special Coordinator for Haiti, Thomas Adams. The meeting agenda included elections preparation, political party funding, adjustments to the present budget, government corruption, and anti-Martelly protests.
Paul emphasized the government's vow to hold fair, honest, and democratic elections. He added the government would finance political parties for inclusion in them. Addressing demonstrations he said government would honor individual freedoms and the right to peaceful assembly.

As the country prepares for the official visit of U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, who will hold talks with the government to help Haiti see its way through its election crisis, Counselor of the Department Thomas A. Shannon, Jr. will travel ahead of Secretary Kerry to make preparations. Shannon, who is slated to arrive on December 24, has an illustrious past that includes an education at Oxford, an ability to speak English, Portuguese and Spanish, and a past working closely with Secretary Kerry, along with his own tenure as U.S. Ambassador for almost four years.

Pamela White, U.S. Ambassador to Haiti, met opposition leaders at FUSION headquarters to negotiate with them.
Anti-government leader Jean Victor said his comrades were clear with White ". . . the current crisis is . . . of Haiti's making, and it is up to Haiti to find a solution . . ."
Nation-wide protests have been occurring, calling for Martelly to step down. If he doesn't and elections aren't held by January 12th, Parliament will be disbanded and Martelly can rule by Presidential decree.
