The Haitian film sector is very undeveloped. Up until the last few decades only documentaries were made about the country.

After the ouster of Duvalier in the 80s, dramatic films appeared, funded by foreign investors. Hollywood screenings, however, dominate Haitian cinema. Raoul Peck is Haiti's most noted Haitian filmmaker.

The Haitian film industry is technically and creatively challenged. But the Motion Picture Association of Haiti honors what has been achieved so far in Haitian cinema.
