She finally got out of the country and went to Montreal, Canada where she began publicly singing these songs describing what bad governance the country had and how baldy it affected the Haitian community.

Haitians Resentment of 19-Year U.S. Occupation

Although Haiti won independence in 1804, by 1908 the island had collapsed under dire economic and political influences. Out of control military factions battled for power.

In 1915, the U.S. Occupation brought stability to Haiti. Initially Haitians accepted it, but grew resentful of America's absolute control in time.

When America's Great Depression hit, they could no longer afford the Occupation and left in 1934. A few American diplomats remained to protect U.S. investments

Just looking at a picture like this one of Wanito performing a song in this new album Biografi Mwen would give you the impression that this guy is inspired and transformed when singing. It appears to me that Wanito puts all he got in every performance, every song. From what I come from, this is called a true artist.

This is a picture of a Haitian diva. Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Fara Juste began to sing at her local church. She was 7 years old at the time. Later, she decided to enter politic, not to seek a position, but rather to start talking against bad governance. She was so involved into her cause that led her to move to Montreal, Canada where she continued to denounce her government.

Fara Juste released 14 self produced albums, singing about pain and misfortunes facing the poor people

Herold lived in Santo Domingo for 17 years. He was popularly known for singing Haitian romantic music. He brought Haitian romantic music to Latin American market. He has done an album in Spanish which is yet to be released.
