BCEN has rejected the candidacy of First Lady Sophia Martelly

BCEN has rejected the candidacy of First Lady Sophia Martelly

It is now a matter of time before the National Bureau of Electoral Disputes makes it official. In the meantime, several reliable sources said the candidacy of the first lady Sophia Martelly is history. It has been rejected.

According to Miami Herald, a spokesman for Haiti's Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), did not want to come out and confirm the news. Here are the reasons for rejecting the candidacy of Sophia Martelly for the Senatorial race in the West Department: She is an American citizen, was administering and needs a discharge to run. The first lady was also accused of committing fraud by voting in the 2010 presidential elections as a U.S. citizen

Electoral Council says First Lady ineligible for a Senate run

First Lady Sophia Martelly cannot run for a senate seat later this year. According to the National Bureau of Electoral Disputes, she lacks requirements of Haitian citizenship to make a senate bid.

Although she gave up her U.S. citizenship in 2014, the opposition claims she didn't apply for a Haitian passport at 18, a deal-breaker.

The Electoral Council made a public announcement notifying the public of their final decision.

Sophia Martelly should be charged with fraud, Senator Westner Polycarpe

Sophia Martelly should be charged with fraud, Senator Westner Polycarpe

Senator Westner Polycarpe seems to have the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) in a corner with the affair of First lady Sophia Martelly. He thinks that their credibility is at risk. In regard to Sophia Martelly, Senator Westner Polycarpe feels that she should be charged with fraud and the use of forged documents.

Recently, the sitting Senator, Dr. Westner Polycarpe, MD (Nord/Alternative) has said that the first Haitian Lady Sophia Martelly is a fraud. She should be charged for her fraudulent activities and use of forged documents. She denounced her Haitian citizenship in 1989, and till 31 March 2014, she had continued to be only a U.S citizen as no dual citizenship was permitted in the Haitian constitution till 2011. When she denounced her U.S. citizenship in 2011, she got an entitlement to become a Haitian citizen. Thus, by an act of forgery, she managed to get her first Haitian passport in 2009. Furthermore, her candidacy is questionable because, as the President of the National Commission Against Hunger & Malnutrition, she is still accountable for a balance of $234 million funds to the State Treasury. For that, she was supposed to submit a certificate of discharge issued by the Superior Court of Auditors and Administrative Disputes; instead she had submitted a discharge certificate issued the Ministry of Finance!

Sonson Lafamilia and his accomplice Renel Lecref, these two criminal leaders of the Galil gang jointly worth an unaccounted annual valuation of$44 million. They were involved in numerous cases of kidnapping, false imprisonment against claims of ransom, money laundering, murder, drug trafficking, and criminal conspiracies. They were arrested and booked several times against serious culpable crimes, but released every time with highly questionable legal orders. Kiko Saint Remy, the brother of the First Lady Sophia Martelly is a known drug trafficker. He was once a business partner of Sonson La Familia alias Woodly Etheard aka SOS. They used to run a restaurant business named "La Souvenance" located at Morne Brun, in Petionville which used to supply food at the National Palace and other important government departments of the country.

Once, Clifford Brandt, an alleged kidnapper, the son of a prominent Haitian businessman and one among the 329 inmates who escaped from a Haitian prison (but was subsequently recaptured in August 2014), had revealed to the U.S investigators that 'Kiko Saint- Remy', the brother in law of Haitian President Michel Martelly is the second most important person in a kidnapping ring. By the end of the last year, when political pressure against Martelly was mounting, Kiko took part in an anti government protest on November 18, 2014, and demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe. Kiko accused him on charges of masterminding political arrests, exploiting justice, neutralizing competitors, operators and activists. Kiko is one of President Martelly's closest clan and a man in his inner circle; he fights for Martelly's control of territory. Now, without Lamothe, President's Tet Kale Party (PHTK) will be able to use $44 million from the fund of a free man named 'Sonson La Familia' who had been released through an unlawful procedure. PHTK can clear the candidacy of Martelly's wife, fund campaigns and buy fraudulent votes for the party.

Steven Benoit with evidence Sophia Saint Remy Martelly born in New York

Senator Steven Benoit is on a mission to stop First Lady Sophia Saint Remy Martelly from running for a Senate seat in Hiati. He was present at the Departmental Electoral Office (BED) of the West this week to bring the evidence

Sophia Saint Remy Martelly registered to become a candidate for Senator of the Republic of Haiti for the West Department.

Senator Benoit accuses First Lady Sophia of possible Fraud

Senator Benoit is challenging the legality of First Lady Sophia Martelly's bid to run for Senator of West Department. Sophia, a U.S. citizen, applied for a Haitian passport in 2009. At that time dual-citizenship was not allowed according to the Constitution.

Benoit says Sophia has committed a probable act of fraud by registering for candidacy. The 2015 Electoral Law states candidates must be native-born, and can't hold dual citizenship, as in Sophia's case.

Sophia Saint Remy Martelly born in New York, running for Haiti Senate

Sophia Saint Remy Martelly born in New York, running for Haiti Senate

Here is a picture of Haiti First Ladt, Sophia Saint Remy Martelly. She was born in New York City but decided to run for a senate seat in Haiti

The First Lady Sophia Saint Remy Martelly was born in New York, USA. On the last day of submitting nominations for contesting to be elected to the Senate, she has registered her candidacy for the seat on behalf of her husband's center-right liberal "Tèt Kale Party (PHTK)". Her friends often term her as "the power behind the throne" while her enemies describe her as "iron lady." However, Article 96 (1) of the Haitian constitution may put a stop to all her moves on the presidency issues. The related provision reads like that......" To be elected to the Senate, a person must be a native born Haitian and never have renounced his nationality". She renounced her Haitian citizenship in 1989, because then she used to spend more time in U.S and before 2011, dual citizenship was not permitted in the Haitian constitution. She has registered her nomination, perhaps purposely, on the final day so that it just leaves 3 days before the Department Electoral Offices (BEDs) to receive and review any complaints or objections on the candidacies and publish the names of the approved candidates on May 1. It is a big issue before the BED to decide its credibility.
