A good tax planning with reasonable tax knowledge can help you to minimize your tax liability. Tax is paid on your income earned during every entire financial year. 'Tax Time' is the period within which you have to submit your return or provision based statements, to the tax assessing authority. Suppose, you have a financial year from January to December. In that case, your tax time should be from January 1- April 15. During the 'tax time' you have to total all your incomes (from every source) to find your total income during the year and from that total, deduct all expenses admissible by the tax authority (called legitimate deductions, like some educational or medical expenses, rent paid, etc) which were essential to your life or were made to earn your income. Such deducted amount is again subject to some deductible allowances like insurance premium, depreciation on assets, etc. You must learn about the treatment for those allowable allowances. Now, the final figure that you have worked out would be your taxable income which is again subject to exemption up to first 20,000 Gourdes.

The government of Haiti is counting a great deal on the improvement of the General Administration of Custom (Douane) to increase its income in order to provide more and better services to the population.

Haiti's General Administration of Customs (AGD) brought in a reported 2.4 billion gourdes in revenue at last count. The massive score came mainly from the collection of customs on articles such as vehicles which carry tariff rates of between 5- and 10%. Operating out of 17 different offices, located throughout Haiti, the AGD supplies tax information as swell as info on the rules of imports and exports, information on tariff fees, working with customs and the procedure for sending merchandise.

President Martelly visited Hinche to officiate at the Socio-Cultural Center and Administrative complex opening. The newly-built, green-compliant building rises three stories and will contain government administrative offices.

The Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) funded the project at $2,670,000 dollars. Martelly expressed his gratitude to IADB, who has funded dozens of projects since the 2010 earthquake.

Speaking, he urged creation of a work culture, in which communities could expect to receive services of a professional, respectful, and responsive nature.
