A new initiative to improve Haiti Police and Judiciary. According to US Ambassador Kenneth Merten, the US will fund the construction of a police station in Cité Soleil, a prison for women, the expansion of national penitentiary and the renovation of several other institutions across the country.
The Ambassador reiterated the commitment of the United States, to bring its contribute to the Police Nationale d'Haiti (PNH), and the judiciary. "We know that the security is essential to the stability that it is necessary to regain, if you want to reach the prosperity and the development of the country"
US Ambassador Merten wants to make sure that the Haitian population knows that the US government is committed to help Haiti create a stable and secure environment in Haiti as they are essential for economic development

Here is a picture of President Michel Martelly as he received credentials of Peter Mulrean, the new US Ambassador to Haiti. He replaced Pamela A. White who had served as the U.S. Ambassador to Haiti since July 2012.

On October 6, 2015, Peter F. Mulrean has been nominated as the new Ambassador to the Republic of Haiti by U.S President Obama. His previous appointment was as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland where he managed a diverse portfolio across many agencies. Mulrean is known as the expert on the Balkans, the Middle East, U.S. humanitarian assistance, and post conflict reconstruction. He is a graduate from Harvard University and recipient of senior Foreign Service performance awards, likes of, Meritorious Honor Awards and Superior Honor Awards. He is married, father of two daughters and well conversant in French, Dutch and Serbo-Croatian.

The sights to be seen at the Carnival of Flowers included the street theater pieces, which consisted of the parading of the body of Jean-Jacques Dessalines, convincingly played by an actor, through the streets of Port-au-Prince. There was also the sight of the many, varying colorful costumes, worn by dancers who shimmied along to the vibrant rhythm of the musicians playing lively Haitian beats. Also a spectacle of its own kind, were the protestors who set out to criticize the President's decision to hold the carnival this year.
