In 2012, former President of the United States, Bill Clinton, announced there would be a grant to implement a new education and medical training program at the Bernard Mevs Hospital in Haiti. Over 16 months, 47 radiologists, pathologists and lab technicians received training, and medical equipment that was state of the art was donated. Today, the hospital is the only one offering trauma, rehabilitation and critical care in the country. Established after the 2010 earthquake, the hospital filled a necessary gap in Haitian health-care, though that care is largely localized to the capital.
