A 150 rooms Hilton Garden Inn hotel is to be open in Port-au-Prince in 2016. During this signing ceremony, the Haitian Prime Minister said once again "Haiti is moving forward to attract investment".

The Clinton Bush Haiti relief funds that were targeted for helping the poverty stricken Haitians suffering because of the 2010 earthquake have been invested in construction of a 5 star luxury hotel called Royal Oasis. Precisely US $2 million were invested in building the luxury hotel with the leaders of the nation defending it as a magnet for international businessmen and rich travelers who can help build new factories and develop tourism industry respectively and thereby helping in more job creation. However, the experts think of it as an unwise decision and call it as skepticism and an overly cautious optimism.

Marriott Hotel in Port-au-Prince, the plan

An investment of $45 million dollars should net Digicel Group much profit as they make plans to open a Marriott Hotel in Port-au-Prince. The planned 173 room hotel saw its groundbreaking recently and, upon completion, will be owned by a unit of the Digicel Group and run by the Marriott International chain of hotels. Construction is expected to last for one year and should consist of the building of 168 guest rooms plus 5 luxury suites replete with the requisite amenities.

Around since 1946, the Hotel Montana, a long-time jewel in the crown that is the suburb of Petion-Ville, suffered major damage during the earthquake in 2010. Two to three hundred people went missing, some of whom were never recovered. After the destruction, the hotel donated the salvageable contents of its freezer to a restaurant for use in their impromptu soup kitchen. Reconstruction of the hotel began in April of 2011.
