Fort Liberte Map
The city of Fort Liberte is situated in Nord-Est, Haiti, its geographical coordinates are 19° 40' 4" North, 71° 50' 23" West. It is the administrative capital of the Nord-Est Department, Haiti.
Fort Liberte is located near the border of the Dominican Republic. The city is one of the oldests in Haiti.
The arrondissement of Fort Liberte has three municipalities: Fort-Liberté, Ferrier and Perches.
During the colonization period, Fort Liberte was a major plantation area of coffee
St Jean Bosco massacre in Haiti
The St Jean Bosco massacre was one of the worst cases of abuse following the exile of the government of Jean Claude Duvalier to France. The Massacre took place on 11 September 1988. It was reported that more than 13 people were murdered and over 80 people wounded. The Saint-Jean Bosco church in Port-au-Prince was the parish of father Jean-Bertrand Aristide who would become the president of Haiti.
On that day, the Saint-Jean Bosco church had over 1000 people for Sunday mass. Report had indicated that the massacre was carried out by unidentified armed men. Jean-Bertrand Aristide was evacuated from the church unharmed.
The Massacre of March 29, 1969 in Casale as Duvalier fighting Communism in Haiti
This is one date that will likely remain in the history of the town of Casale for the history book. On March 29, 1969, sources primarily from the residents of Casale reporte that the forces of the Duvalier regime conducted mass killing in the region. It was done in the objective to eradicate the communist movement that was taking shape in the town. This monument was built to honor some of those who were subject of the massacre
Raboteau Massacre And FRAPH Front For The Advancement And Progress Of Haiti
The Massacre at Raboteau as it comes to be known took place after pro-democracy candidate Jean-Bertrand Aristide won the Haitian presidency. Group by the name of FRAPH Front for the Advancement and Progress of Haiti, attempted a coup d etat. As a result, the people of Raboteau in Gonaives demonstrated. FRAPH in response, killed anywhere from 26 to 50 people.
Francois Anick Joseph accused Michel Martelly
The first Senator of the Artibonite, François Anick Joseph made a major accusation on the Haitian President Michel Martelly. He stated that the President is implicated in kidnapping, abduction and murder. This was revealed to the newpaper Le Matin. The Senator of Artibonite Department has been in opposition with the Government
Franck Cine Arrested In Connection With Guiteau Toussaint Assassination
The CEO of the cell phone company, Mr. Franck Cin was taken for questioning on Tuesday in regard to the assassination of the Haitian banker and President of the Board of Directors of the Banque Nationale de Credit BNC , Mr. Guiteau Toussaint. He was arrested and taken to a Police Station in Canape Vert. Mr. Franck Cin was released later the same day after being interviewed for over two hours.

This is the view in Port-au-Prince, one of Haiti's biggest shantytowns,called jalousie. It is a large number pf homes located on a mountainside in the nation's capital. Currently, there is a project to paint them
Many people were employed to start painting the concrete facades of buildings in Jalousie slum in a rainbow of purple, peach, lime and cream. This idea was taken from the famous Haitian artist and Haitian painter Prefete Duffaut in his famous work "cities-in-the-skies".
This project is to cost the government $1.4 million

Haitian Joseph Philippe Lemercier Laroche and the Titanic Story
The connection between Titanic and Cincinnatus Leconte. Juliette Laroche who was a French young girl married a Haitian engineer Joseph Philippe Lemercier Laroche back in Villlejuif, a southern suburb of Paris, France.
With two children and one on the way, the family decided to move to Haiti. At the time, Cincinnatus Leconte who was the uncle of Joseph Laroches was President of Haiti.
It was reported that the family purchased traveling tickets boarded Titanic in Cherbourg. After realizing that the Titanic was sinking, the men made sure their wives and children made it onto a Lifeboat.
in 1912, after Titanic, these mothers also had to be survivors in every sense of the word and for as long as they lived.
Juliette Laroche and her children were treated in a New York Hospital and released. Joseph Philippe Lemercier Laroche, the only Black and Haitian onboard perished in 1912, after Titanic. He was also the nephew of President Cincinnatus Leconte.
