While on a visit to Chile, Haitian president made his intention known about what he wants out of The United Nation Peace keeping force, MINUSTAH. According to the Haitian president, Michel Martelly, the 12,000 soldiers that make the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti could be used in a better way than maintaining peace in Haiti, which is their only function at this time.

Chile is a major contributor to the UN force. The former Chilean foreign minister Mariano Fernandez is currently the head of MINUSTAH in Haiti. In addition, 500 Chileans are among MINUSTAH, providing security and peace keeping in Haiti

At the invitation of Terry Lundgren who is the Chief Executive Officer of the retail store Macy's, the popular business woman Martha Stewart and the fashion designer Rachel Roy were all in Haiti to look at Haitian art and explore ways for the retail store to continue to do business with Haitian artisans. Martha Stewart took the opportunity to do some shopping in the city of Croix des Bouquets where she purchased some art pieces.
All three were in Haitian with the objective to find some business opportunities as well as promoting more foreign investments in the Caribbean nation of Haiti.

Here is a photo of Aubry Blague Haiti. On January 12, 2010, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake hit Haiti, devastating Port-au-prince. It is reported that more than 230,000 people were killed. More than 3 million people were affected. Many homes and important structures were destroyed. A large number of people were left homeless and had to live under tents for several months

The Hope for Haiti Now Telethon featured artists such as Madona, Rihana, string, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, Bono, Coldplay and Sheryl. Also a list of celebrities such as former president Bill Clinton, Leonard DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman and Samiel L. Jackson addressed the audience.

Here is a picture of Madonna performing at the Hope for Haiti Now Telethon.

The telethon was broadcasted for over two hours. Funds were collected by phone, via text messaging and over the internet. In the United States, Haiti Now Telethon was broadcasted via 25 networks.
