Collège Mixte Le Bon Berger, or Good Shepherd School was a 12-grade school, which had six classrooms; it was built few years prior to the 2010 earthquake. The devastating earthquake destroyed it so badly that called for a total replacement. Its rebuilding effort was designed to reflect Montrouis' identity and passion for learning within an ideal Haitian ambiance. The phase one was completed in early 2012 and a new completed school was opened on February, 2013 with nearly 400 students. Since its reopening, it has brought national acclaim with continuous increasing enrollment. It was rebuilt with support from nonprofit organizations like Architecture for Humanity, the Stiller Foundation and Students Rebuild. Architecture for Humanity was a US-based charitable organization that used to provide architectural solutions to humanitarian crises (closed down in January 2015). Stiller Foundation was founded by Ben Stiller on a notion that all Haitian children deserve the opportunity to reach their full potential. Students Rebuild is a collaborative program of the Bezos Family Foundation that was formed following the 2010 Haitian earthquake.
World Vision's Sant Lespwa of Hope near Hinche wins architectural award

The Sant Lespwa Center of Hope, located outside of Hinche, Haiti, has garnered the team an award for architecture in the 2015 AIA Honor Awards. Commissioned by World vision, the center was built with the Haitian breeze in mind, with the building giving over to a breezeway that allows the light and wind in, and also gives astounding views of the nearby mountains. The scope of the brilliance of the architecture also involves water collection, the generation of electricity, and consideration of the treatment of sewage. All these plans were made with the input of the community, and the building also provided the training of over a hundred locals.

The Citadelle Laferrière was built as a threat in case the French would consider retaking the island.
Architecture Professor John McRae Wins AIA Gold Medal for Haiti Work

The American Institute of Architects at its yearly Design Awards Gala awarded John McRae its Gold Medal Award for his outstanding contributions in the field of architecture.
Susanne Tarovella and Andy Godwin collaborated with McRae on the UT Haiti Project, designing a high school, housing, and medical facilities for Haitian communities. They wrote McRae's nomination letter saying his work ". . . will continue to have lasting impact over generations."
