Population of Acul du Nord
The just over 100,000 strong population of Acul du Nord, in the North of Haiti, is made up mainly of those of the Christian faith, with most of that number being Catholic. For such a devout number, the 2010 election was undoubtedly a hard time as the town was marred by the violent reactions of some during the polling. Opposing factions found themselves in physical altercations over their candidates and shots had to be fired into the air to quell the dispute. Men, armed with guns, arrested progress at most polling stations, causing a cancellation in the dealings until UN peace keepers intervened.
