The Dominican Republic (DR) is experiencing fallout from the ruling threatening to displace more than 250,000 Haitians, descendents of illegal immigrants.

Haitians have struck back at the DR's $4.5 billion tourist industry. At an airport terminal, they placed an image of a bikini-clad woman sunbathing on a beach. She has bloodied hands and the lettering below the image says the DR denationalizes more than a quarter of a million human beings.

The DR is under pressure from CARICOM to reverse the ruling.

Haiti and the Dominican Republic are two nations that share the island of Hispaniola; however they have different histories often contentious.

The Dominican economy depends on migrant labor to work jobs at the bottom of the wage scale. Many Haitians suffer from racism and discrimination when taken back-breaking jobs in Dominican sugar-cane fields and construction site.

Charles Rivière-Hérard was an officer in the Haitian Army under Alexandre Pétion. He became President of Haiti on 4 April 1843.

Soon after his rise to power, Santo Domingo, staged a revolt. On 27 February 1844, rebels occupied the capital city of Santo Domingo and the following day declared the independence of the Dominican Republic from Haiti.

Charles Rivière-Hérard responded with an army of 25,000 soldiers on 10 March 1844, he entered the new Dominican Republic with the intent of returning the eastern half of the island to Haitian rule.

He was quickly defeated, and forced to retreat with his army back into Haïti.

There is an allegation of Kickbacks reported by Dominican Journalist Nuria Piera between the Haitian President Michel Martelly and Dominican Senator Felix Bautista.

According to Dominican Investigative Journalist Nuria Piera, there has been large amount of money exchanged not only with the Haitian president Michel Martelly buralso with the former Candidate Mirlande Manigat. The report indicated that President Michel Martelly received at least $$2.5 million in the form of Kickbacks by a Dominican construction firm owned by Dominican Senator Felix Bautista.

Here is a picture of Pierre-Edouard Kanzki , the man accused with Dominican Colonel retired Pedro Julio Goico. The two were stated in Dominican press to be involved in a plot to to destabilize and eventually overthrow the government of President Michel Martelly.

Pierre-Edouard Kanzki rejected the accusation for wanting to destabilize the Haitian government, Michel Martelly. "The Dominican press reported a plot that I would have fomented against the President Joseph Michel Martelly. What a joke !", stated Pierre-Edouard Kanzki. He went further to say that he, just like the Haitian singer Wyclef Jean was involved in the fight to elect Michel Martelly.
