Suzanne Lerner, a co-founder, the present president of Michael Stars and owner of Lerner Et Cie, is an entrepreneur, political activist and philanthropist. Her recent project is to help Haitians in collaboration with a Haitian fashion design company Paula Coles. Paula Coles makes home and fashion accessories out of recycled scrapped fabrics collected from Haitian T-shirt factories. Each Paula Coles item is a promise and it comes with a mission to provide education and a promise of a brighter future for thousands of underprivileged children in Haiti. As part of Michael Star's Spring collection, they have planned to sell a limited edition of linen anorak jackets that have four different hand-beaded designs created by Haitian artisans. The designed have been named "Veve" and will be sold at $298; out of that money, $100 will be donated to PRODEV, Haiti. PRODEV is an organization created with a mission to develop, manage and support schools and educational centers in underserved communities in Haiti.
