Sergey Kovalev stops Haitian boxer Jean Pascal
Former world champion Haitian boxer Jean Pascal was bitten by Sergey Kovalev who retained his three 175-pound world title belts at the Bell Centre in Montreal
Jean Pascal, in a crushing blow, lost the light heavyweight title to Sergey Kovalev. Pascal was knocked out by Kovalev in the third round. He rebounded to connect with some hard-hitting blows in the fourth and fifth rounds. In round eight Pascal was knocked down again, the referee declaring Kovalev the winner by a technical knockout.
Pascal challenged the outcome, asking for a re-match. Kovalev will agree to it pending a decision by his handlers.
