Lycee Alexandre Petion in Port-au-Prince
Lycee Alexandre Petion is named after the Haitian President and was founded in Port-au-Prince in 1816
It was originally located where the old local Faculty of Sciences is at Rue Mgr. Guilloux, but transferred around 1870. The building was designed by architect George Baussan. For many years. Lycée Alexandre Pétion was a school of reference in Haiti.
Lycee Alexandre Petion had some of the best teachers at the time and produced several generations of writers and politicians. Some of the well known individuals who attended the school include: Dumarsais Estime, François Duvalier, Prosper Avril, Martial Celestin, Yvon Neptune, Jean Price Mars, René Depestre, Jacques Stephen Alexis and Frankétienne.
