Nelson Voltaire, AKA Piman Bouk and North Miami Mayor Smith Joseph

Nelson Voltaire, AKA Piman Bouk and North Miami Mayor Smith Joseph

Here is a picture of the popular Radio host in the Haitian Community in Miami, Nelson Voltaire, AKA Piman Bouk. He is here with the new North Miami Mayor Smith Joseph. Biman Bouk as one who has a large audience on radio in the Miami area is a force you have to work with as a politician.

In early November, North Miami elected its new mayor, Dr. Smith Joseph. As a candidate for the seat, and winner by a slight margin, Mayor Joseph is no stranger to the influential commentary often found on Haitian talk radio. One such program is that featuring Nelson Voltaire, more popularly known as Pimon Bouk, whose influence over the listening diaspora was felt last year when, just before the run-offs, he influenced thousands of Haitians within the community, in Creole, to vote Haitian. With the might of Haitian radio behind them, it is no wonder so many of the Haitian community become elected officials.

It was a pleasure knowing you. Mr. Jean Mary Jean Gabriel is an actor without borders. He teases and provokes.

Jean-Mary Gabriel Dies of Asthma Attack

Comedian Jean-Mary Gabriel practiced an uncensored brand of comedy. He said out loud what others only thought to themselves, especially about Haitian politics.

Gabriel died of an asthma attack after his Caribbean Morning radio broadcast with guest Colonel Himmler Rebu, Minister of Youth and Sports.

One tribute from a Haitian official, who knew him casually said, "The fool Gabriel will never change . . . . This wacky comedy dies . . . with him."

Here is Yvener, the main host at the popular Radio show on Rado Television Caraibes, Matin Caraibes.

The Team at Matin Caraibes is very dynamic. The Matin Caraibes team works in very good harmony, although it does not show it all the time in front of the public. The humor some times on the show can reach a point where the listening audience believes that the hosts are really fighting. However, this is not always the case. Radio frequency interference problem Between Haiti and Dominican Republic

Radio frequency interference problem Between Haiti and Dominican Republic

Radio frequency interference has been going on for a long time and was never addressed between Haiti and Dominican Republic. There is an effort now in place to see how this problem can be addressed.

Like most other developing countries, radio reaches the maximum audience in Haiti. There are more than 300 radio stations believed to broadcast throughout the country. Similarly the radio history in Dominican republic dates back to the 1926. The first FM transmissions in DR began in 1967 and today in a crowded spectrum, it has 235 FM (Frequency Modulation) stations and more than 155 AM (Amplitude Modulation) stations. Recently, The Instituto Dominicano De Telecomunicaciones (INDOTEL) that oversees DR's telecommunication market had high level discussions with its Haitian counterpart, the National Telecommunications Council (Conatel) . They have decided to investigate and find solutions to their issues of common interests like radio frequency interference and other illegalities committed in villages along the border between the two countries. Such interferences are, not only affecting radio services alone, but telephone, and TV communication services are disrupted as well. The outcome of the discussions of these two regulatory authorities will be transformed into an agreement, signed and endorsed by the presidents of the two entities on a later date.
