Born in Ouanaminthe, he was a member of the Haitian Unified Communist Party

Rene Theodore was forced into exile in 1967 during Francois Duvalier and then his son, Jean-Claude reign

He is the Grandson of Former President Davilmar Theodore.

Rene Theodore lived in France and Russia. In Rusia, he worked as an anchorman for Radio Moscow's Creole news broadcasts.

Rene Theodore died of lung cancer June 2003 at age 62
