Here is another picture of excellence in Haiti. Guy Etienne who is a teacher at the College Catts Pressoir of Port-au-Prince, has been selected one of 10 finalists for the award for the best teacher in the world in 2015

Varkey Gems Foundation, a global education foundation, is set to award a $1 million prize to the best teacher in the world. Haitian teacher Guy Etienne is one of 10 finalists in the 2015 competition.

Etienne will be judged by a 67-member jury on three major criteria: how he inspires the minds of his students; how he makes contributions within his community, and how he motivates students to pursue teaching as a profession.

Here is a picture of the Haitian comedian Maurice Alfredo Sixto in Congo.

Maurice Alfredo Sixto born to an engineer (his father had the exact same name) on 23 May 1919. Being the son of a wealthy father he attended the most prestigious school for his secondary studies at St Louis de Gonzague. Upon graduation, he went to join Haitian Military Academy but studied there for three months and ultimately joined law courses. He was a man of many characters--an ambassador, story teller, social reformer, radio presenter, reporter, tour guide are few to name.

Haitian Writer, Dr. Pradel Pompilus

One of the most respected Haitian scholars, Dr. Pradel Pompilus was born in 1914 and passed away in 2000. He was a writer, teacher, grammarian and linguist, best known for his study of Haitian literature.

Dr. Pradel Pompilus was born in Arcahaie, studied law, was professor of French and Latin. He became one of the first Haitian scholars in Paris and in 1957

Dr. Pompilus was then appointed professor of literature at the University of S State of Haiti and was a teacher at Ecole Normale Supérieure during 1980s. He was one of the Haitian writers who put Haitia creole at a high level. He deserves deep respect for his contribution to the Haitian literature

World bank providing fundiing for children's education, teacher's training and meal

After the successful election in 2006, with encouraging efforts of Haitian President Rene Preval, the World Bank has decided to invest money in Haiti educational system. They approved a US$25 Million Grant for funding Haiti's Educational System. As a result of the World Bank funding, the Haitian government would be responsible to provide effective Primary Education for 100,000 poor children, in about 1,000 Private Schools. In addition funding for teacher's training and meal for the children would be provided as well
