Urban Agriculture in "Ti Savanne", Carrefour Feuille
"Ti Savanne" is becoming greener through a project called "Urban agriculture". The main objective of the project is to fight against food insecurity. A project initiated by OXFAM - June 2013
The project called "Urban agriculture" was launched in September 2012 to fight against food insecurity. Nursery was set up where the local people received theoretical and practical training to grow plants in car tire in the community garden of Ti Savanne.
According to the National Commission for Food Security (CNSA), food insecurity is on the rise in Haiti following last year's hurricanes and drought. The development of urban agriculture can offer an alternative to this problem.
This can actually achieve two objectives, improve food insecurity and held the population to participate in the protection of the environment.
