Here is a picture of the guy who was accused for the Domestic violence case. Ronald (Roro) Nelson, an active member of the Haitian community of Boston was accused of assault and battery on his ex-girlfriend Marie Astrid Pantal Walsh at BMC Dorchester court in Boston on November 14, 2011.

According to declaration made by the victim, Roro Nelson beat her.

Roro Nelson was found guilty in the Dorchester Civil Court in Boston, Massachusetts by a jury of 12 and his conviction carried a one year probation.

Maternity Center Isaie Jeanty

Isaie Jeanty Women's Hospital is located in the slum of Cite Soleil. It is a maternity hospital not equipped to handle the women it admits due to a bed shortage. The hospital doesn't even have a kitchen.

Non-profit Outside the Bowl made a deal with the Haitian government to build a Super Kitchen. The government will provide the property gratis and OTB will feed hospital staff and patients as well as provide to other food programs in Cite Soleil.

Yolette Mengual Re-Elected to Provisional Electoral Council

Despite internal warfare between two women's groups, Fanm yo la and Solidarite fanm Ayisyen, a female representative has been elected to serve on the Provisional Electoral Council CEP).

Six candidates vied for a seat on the CEP, and Yvette Mengual became the victor with 55 votes. Marie Guillaume, in second place, garnered 44 votes and will be the alternate.

Mengual has formerly served as a Judiciary Superior Council representative as well as on the CEP.

Adelina Soulouque, Empress of Haiti, was crowned in Port-au-Prince beside her husband Faustin I, given the royal name Her Imperial Majesty.

She was born to bi-racial Haitian mother, Marie Leveque. Adelina was Faustin I's lover for years before she married him, giving him a daughter, Princess Celita.

Faustin was overthrown by General Geffrard in 1859. Adelina went into exile with him in Kingston, Jamaica for eight years before he died back in Petit-Goâve.

Haitian Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, under pressure from the government, civil society, and the international community, declared he was resigning from office on TV in the wee hours of Sunday morning. In his remarks he said he was leaving office ". . . with a feeling of accomplishment" That Saturday, President Michel Martelly, who had welcomed the suggestions of the Consultative Commission (CC), asked for Lamothe's resignation in order to break the gridlock of delayed general elections. Overdue by three-and-half years, it has caused wide-spread violent demonstrations in the capital and elsewhere in the country.

With a name that means "Home of Birth" the Torbeck maternal health center, Maison de Naissance, needs to be a place of comfort, peace and efficiency. The beautiful, modern health facility seems to be all that, servicing the poor in the vicinity and welcoming hundreds of babies into the world. Since 2004, they have done over 132,000 consults and hosted the birth of nearly 5,000 babies. This year, the center celebrates its 10th anniversary.
