Jean Tholbert Alexis (born November 29, 1973), an elected representative of ANSANM NOU FO political party from Croix-des-Bouquets, became the President of the Chamber of Deputies following the elections held, on Wednesday, 16 January 2013. He received 65 votes of the 91 deputies present at the session. As a President of the Lower House, he had always remained vocal about human rights abuses. By profession, he is a lawyer. He had managed many important port folios during his career, likes of Member Committee Public Works, Transport and Communication; Member Committee Finance, Trade, Economy and Budget; Member of Commission for Justice and Public Safety; Chairman of Special Committee to study the parts of the former Prime Minister-designate, Daniel Gérard Rouzier, by President of the Republic Michel Joseph Martelly and became the General Manager of a village project ONA (National Old-Age Insurance Office).
