The Haitian flag for most of its history has been Blue and red. However, when Dessalines was proclaimed emperor of Haiti as Jacques I in October 18004 the blue band was changed to Black. The next time the Flag was again changed, was during the dictatorship period of Francois and Jean-Claude Duvalier
