Joe Biden Urges Haiti to Hold Elections
U.S. Vice President Biden spoke by phone with Haitian President Martelly recently. During their one-hour conversation, they talked about post-2010 reconstruction projects, improving government of Haiti's (GOH) efficiency and responsiveness, and initiatives to tackle anti-corruption practices within GOH.
Biden assured Martelly of the U.S.'s continuing support in re-building Haiti. He also advised Martelly Haiti needs to hold free, fair, and transparent elections before year's end. The Permanent Electoral Council must be seated for this to happen.
